Various police and paramedic organisations use the ST1100 for their patrol bikes and consequently I managed to obtain a nifty piece of kit to allow the left hand fairing pocket to be converted to take a radio. Please note that  this is not a stock Honda part and is not generally available to the public. Should anyone come up with a supplier of a similar item, please let me know and I will post details here.

[NOTE added by Mark Moloney:  These parts are available by contacting markmoloney@esatclear.ie direct.  The pocket covers replace the current standard pocket cover on the left hand Grey cowl running alongside the tank, its the pocket that has no lock in it,  and enables you to install a radio in the cover very neatly. The transparent lid closes down over the radio making it reasonably weatherproof. European Police forces use them all the time. Yes you may as well state the price. It should also be noted that these are not generally available to the public but I have managed to procure a batch.]

The rubber cover to the pocket is removed and, using the template provided, a hole is cut in the bottom of the pocket to allow the radio to be fitted into place. To provide weather protection to the top of the radio, a cover with lid is provided and the back of the radio (which would normally be inside a car dashboard) is protected by means of a car tyre inner tube secured with cable ties.
