Subject: ST1100: Aquarium Thermometer farkle

While at WeSTOC last year, I noticed that Mike Martin had a LCD thermometer in place of the Honda logo on his handlebar upper cover.  Mike told me that Mike Reider (spdster@telis.org) had handled a group buy on this item a few years ago.

Martin explained how to install the device and Reider sourced a properly sized thermometer for a little less than $16. The thermometer digits pretty well fill the 3/4"X1" logo location, it's easy to quickly read.  Another advantage of the aquarium thermometer is it's 2' long thermocouple, the head mounts in the location where the logo is/was but the probe is sensing air temperature through the front upper slot of the left middle fairing.

The Honda logo is easily removed with a little careful work with your Dremel tool from the inside of the handlebar cover.  The thermometer head is then simply epoxied into location, it's stayed put for about 3K miles in the last month or so. The thermometer is very accurate.

A good farkle.
